They are best known for their Sailor Moon Musical and for having Virtual Idol Mari Watanabe as their Leader. The dark fantasy follows a high school sophomore named Akihito Kanbara. Although the boy appears human, he is half youmu and invulnerable to wounds because he can heal quickly. One day, Akihito meets freshman Mirai Kuriyama when it seems she is about to jump from the school rooftop. Mirai is isolated because of her ability to manipulate blood, which is unique even among members of the spirit world. Disturbing events begin to unfold after Akihito saves Mirai.

Blood Lad

Staz is the vampire boss of a section of the demon world, but he has little interest in human blood. He's more infatuated with Japanese culture. When he learns that Yanagi Fuyumi, a Japanese teenage girl, accidentally wanders into the demon city, he jumps to the occasion. However, while Staz deals with an intruder on his turf, the oblivious Fuyumi is killed by a monster and becomes a wandering ghost. The disappointed Staz vows to her that he will find a way to bring Fuyumi back to life.

Team Hideo to return for their fourth year at AOD!

AOD 2014 is pleased to welcome Team Hideo – the group behind Hideo – A Theatrical Concert of Music from Japanese Animation and Video Games – back for their fourth year at the con for a special musical extravaganza!

Team Hideo gathers the best, most enthusiastic video game and/or anime-loving musicians, actors, and artists to produce all-original shows featuring video game and anime music performed live to a dramatic story.  Hideo was most recently on stage at the Paramount Theater in Seattle, Washington as part of PAX Prime 2013 and the group has produced a 4-track studio EP, Songs from The Shiny Mug, and a 5-track live EP, An Evening at The Shiny Mug.  They also release original anime and game music arrangements along with the sheet music via their YouTube channel every two weeks.

In honor of AOD's new venue for 2014, Team Hideo asked their arranger to put together almost 20 new songs for a special hour-long concert of classic video game and anime tunes from such titles as Super Mario Bros., Cowboy Bebop, The Legend of Zelda, Chrono Cross, Mega Man 2 and 3, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VII, Castlevania, and more.  Join us at 3pm on Saturday at the Main Stage, with a meet-and-greet to follow!  www.hideoconcert.com

Professional lighting, backdrops, and other equipment will be available for anyone to use to snap photos of their favorite cosplayers — completely free of charge. Bring your camera and your cosplayer down to Portrait Stage and check it out. AOD staff are on hand to answer questions, but the stage setup is designed for photographers of any skill level.

Nanase Haruka loved to be in the water - loved swimming. In elementary school, Nanase Haruka, Tachibana Makoto, Matsuoka Rin, and Hazuki Nagisa attended the same swimming class together. Time passed, and as Haruka was living an uneventful high school life, he suddenly encountered Rin again. Rin challenged Haruka to a race and showed him how much stronger he had become. Soon enough, Makoto and Nagisa also rejoined the group, and along with a new classmate, Ryugazaki Rei, they established the Iwatobi High School Swimming Club.

Hall Costuming Awards

The Hall Cosplay Contest has two special prizes: Best Video Game Costume and the Acme Award for the best costume from or inspired by a western cartoon! The winners of each of these awards receive $100 cash! Also, Each day Viz is sponsoring a special award for the best costume from Naruto worn at AOD! If you love Naruto and cosplay, make sure that our hall cosplay judges get you entered in the contest! The winners are announced at the Hall Cosplay awards on Sunday.

To enter, make sure our cosplay staffers get your picture and contact information at the con. As usual, they are roaming the halls of the convention, taking pictures and collecting some information from people wearing costumes. They are asking for your name, the character you are dressed as, and what the source is, and optionally you may give them your cell phone number or email (so we can contact winners).

  • Attendees may enter as many costumes as they are able to.
  • You must have a valid badge in order to enter.
  • If you do not give us a valid way to contact you, you forfeit your prize.
  • Costumes that win awards at the Masquerade are not eligible for Hall Costuming awards.
  • Cosplay Staff may not enter.

The winners are chosen by AOD Staff. Awards are given in the afternoon on Sunday. You must either be present or leave us a way to contact you to win; if not, then the next winner present or we have contact information for receives the award.

Well known for his skills with Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Romscout is a well-respected member of the Speed Demos Archive community, and the head of Summer Games Done Quick. You know how some people hoard unbelievable amounts of stuff? Are you one of those people? Or are looking to become one? Well, then the Swap Meet is where you need to be. Any attendee who wants to sell items is welcome to purchase a Swap Meet ticket for $20 and set up camp. Then, when the doors burst open, all the other attendees flood the room, sifting through your old anime, comics, video games, and toys, looking for those special treasures.

Come join us for Munchkin Fu, eight other Munchkin variations, and all the rest of the Board Games we have for you to play in the Board Game Room. We are teaching you to play Apples to Apples and see who associates what words with which (often very wrong but funny) ideas; join us for some Killer Bunnies or Zombies mayhem, lose yourself in Betrayal At House On The Hill, let us show you the new variations of Risk, and even play great out of print games like Pokemon the board game. A valid photo ID is required to check out games and borrowed games must remain in the room at all times. We also welcome people bringing their own games and decks of Magic the Gathering or other card games to play.

Board Gaming is open on Saturday from 10am to Midnight, and on Sunday from 10am to the convention's close.
